Peponi School was delighted to host a special girls’ hockey fixture as our Old Peponians (OPs) returned to face the Peponi 1st XI in a spirited and thoroughly enjoyable match.
Played in a warm and positive atmosphere, the game was a celebration of Peponi’s rich hockey tradition and the strong bonds that continue to unite past and present players. From the first whistle, both teams displayed skill, determination, and excellent sportsmanship, making for an engaging contest throughout.
Led by their captain, Rianna Shah (’25), the Old Peponians demonstrated composure and experience, eventually securing a convincing 3–1 victory over a resilient Peponi 1st XI side that competed with heart and discipline until the final whistle.
Individual performances were rightly recognised at the end of the match. Eliana (Shell) was named Peponi 1st XI Most Valuable Player, while Tana (’21) received the Old Peponian MVP award, reflecting her influence and leadership on the pitch.
Following the match, players and staff were warmly hosted by the Headmaster for lunch, providing a relaxed and convivial setting in which old friendships were renewed and new connections formed. The gathering was a fitting conclusion to a morning that celebrated both sporting excellence and the enduring Peponi community.
The occasion served as a powerful reminder of the legacy of girls’ hockey at Peponi, and of the inspiration that former pupils continue to offer to current players. Peponi School extends its sincere thanks to all the Old Peponians who returned to play and support the fixture, and we look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate girls’ sport and the Peponi hockey family.
