Tutoring

Peponi offers every pupil a stimulating, secure and caring environment. Key to this is our House system, with pupils staying with the same House from Shell(Year 9) through to Upper Sixth(Sixth Form). It is within our four Houses that pupils build bonds for life, sharing challenges and successes in an atmosphere of strong mutual support.

After the Housemaster or Housemistress, the Tutor team is central to pastoral care. The tutorial team works closely with the Heads of Year to support every boy and girl to realise their full potential. Each Tutor works with pupils in their charge to assist them more deeply with their academic work, while communicating with the Housemaster or Housemistress.

Mrs Wambugu, the Head of Shell allocates each Tutor approximately 15 pupils. The pupils meet with their tutees at least four times a week informally and then in addition, four Physical, Social and Health Education (PSHE) sessions a week a planned according to the PSHE programme managed by the pastoral team.

Mrs Claire Nightingale, the Head of Fifth form, with her team of tutors, support and guide the academic work of the pupils. In their examination year, the tutors help the pupils devise revision programmes and assess their own learning needs.

Mr David Kimani, the Head of VI Form, with the support of eleven other tutors, encourages the pupils to accept new challenges and advises them about career choices and university applications. Please see the tab on the VI Form for more information.
