Religious Studies

With all of the world’s major religions represented in the school, learning about and understanding each other’s faiths is a core part of our RS teaching.

As a Christian school, the Bible stories provide a rich vein of resources for pupils in all year-groups and we allow the children the opportunity to enjoy these stories while making comparisons with the contemporary issues of today.

The emphasis on the importance of finding common ground between religions is reflected in the syllabus followed by Years 5 to 8 with topics that include interfaith dialogue, the shared qualities of religious leaders and how religions can respond to environmental issues in effective ways. Such courses allow pupils to enhance their understanding of life in a multi-cultural society and explore vital philosophical, spiritual and ethical questions.
