Week 5 update

Dear Parents

Next week we are on half term and, like all our breaks, this is designed so that children get a rest. Please allow them to rest.

Exams are but a small part of our methods of assessment and we don’t like to make a big song and dance about them. It is important that children do the best they can but they will achieve this by working hard in class (which they have been doing) and approaching the test with a clear and well rested mind. Cramming in revision at all hours of the day and night or sipping form the poisoned chalice of tuition will do no good. The way to hell is paved, not with good intentions, but with past papers.

Limit screen time. Encourage fresh air and exercise. Have a good night’s sleep. Stop worrying - your anxiety will harm your child.

Thank you to all those who attended the Information Evening on Monday. I know that you all found it to be most enlightening. We should all loudly and publicly thank the teachers as they had put in a lot of excellent work to make the evening such a success, especially Mrs Morton and Mrs Waddington.

Some of you also came to the Internet Safety talk I gave this morning - a repeat of the one I gave two weeks ago. We shall be posting some helpful dos and don’ts shortly.

I won’t be writing another update before half term, so have a good break. We wish our hard-working and wonderful Year 8s all the very best of success for their upcoming exams after half term. And yes - they too need lots of rest and fresh air!

Best wishes

Robert Blake
