week 10 update

From the Headmaster:

Dear Parents

This has been a busy week for all of us but it started very well when, at Assembly, I was able to give Samyak Raja his medal and certificate for coming second in this year’s Young Musician of the Year competition. We also applauded our Under 13 boys’ hockey team, who won their IAPS tournament at Kenton last Saturday. Joel Ouya, Anay Shah, Dhilan Patel, Anders Rame and Shrey Haria all won places in the Nairobi Schools team.

Some of you have had the opportunity to meet Mrs Jill McLachlan, our UK-based Board Member. Many of you have also completed the PTA survey, for which we thank you. I look forward to hearing some positive feedback from the PTA “Town Hall” meeting on Monday.

I am happy to be able to announce that we have taken the first and very important steps towards making the best use of IT at Peponi. We will be using the Firefly Learning Platform to provide essential links between home and school. Firefly is used in many schools in the UK and around the world and provides much more than a learning platform. It is a parent portal, pupil portal, calendar, messaging service, communications hub and much, much more.

Teachers have been issued with iPads and, as from September, children will have the opportunity to use tablets in some of their lessons. You will be hearing more from me on this subject over the course of the rest of this year. The internet provides endless opportunities but it is also a space that is fraught with traps and problems. I will be hosting two parents’ evenings next term where we can share with you our concerns, as well as our enthusiasm and our vision as to the way that we, at school and at home, can work together.

With very best wishes

Robert Blake

From the PTA:

Opportunity to Provide Feedback to School!

As hopefully you are aware the PTA is hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Monday March 20th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm to discuss, as a parent body, areas of interest, concern and opportunities for school improvement. (Parents only, please plan to attend.)

In advance of the Town Hall we have launched a survey to capture some of the key subjects that parents feel are important to discuss yet may not have had an opportunity to express.
Click on this link to launch the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S6VKFNS.

About the survey:
The survey is entirely anonymous so that parents can feel free to provide honest and productive input.
Responses are returned anonymously to the PTA directly. Please take 5 minutes time to complete.

Use this as an opportunity to share your dreams, ideas and hopes for partnering with the Senior Leadership Team and our teachers to create a stronger parent/teacher community with a shared vision.

Thank you for your time and partnership!
