Years 10 & 11, The IGCSE Years
During
these years, pupils work towards the IGCSE examinations, with the majority
taking nine.
The teaching expands beyond the confines of examination
syllabuses to provide a broad and challenging education. Full details of the
courses are given in the ‘IGCSE
Options Booklet’. We leave pupils as many options as possible for A
level.
All
pupils take IGCSE:
-
English & English Literature
-
Mathematics
-
Science (a Dual Award. Each subject is studied and examined separately;
pupils receive two IGCSE grades.)
-
A
modern language (usually French or Kiswahili)
Three
further subjects are chosen from:
-
Art
-
Business Studies
-
Geography
-
German
-
History
-
ICT
-
Music
-
Physical Education
-
Kiswahili
There
are lessons in Personal and Social Education but the subject is not
examined.
All the
compulsory subjects are taught by ability set.
